What are sick visits?

Sick visits are medical appointments you make when you're not feeling well, have an injury, or experience unwanted side effects of treatment for an underlying health issue.

When should I schedule a sick visit?

You should schedule a sick visit at Peridot Primary Care if you’re sick or injured and unable to manage your symptoms with rest and over-the-counter medications.

The providers recommend sick visits if you have symptoms like:

• Ear pain
• Headache
• Sore throat
• Wheezing
• High fever
• Persistent cough
• Abdominal pain
• Rectal bleeding
• Diarrhea or constipation
• Sinus pressure and/or pain
• Pain or burning with urination

Peridot Primary Care also offers mental health screenings for individuals who feel anxious or hopeless or have thoughts of harming themselves or others. If you’re having suicidal thoughts, call 911 immediately or visit the nearest hospital emergency room for help. 

What can I expect during sick visits?

You can expect to have a complete physical exam during a sick visit. The Peridot Primary Care specialists discuss your symptoms, review your medical history, and may recommend blood work, a throat culture, or other diagnostic testing.

Based on the nature of your condition, the team creates a treatment plan to ease symptoms and help you recover more efficiently. You may need antibiotics to clear an infection or topical creams to soothe a skin rash. The providers can also refill your prescriptions as needed.

Follow-up visits are available so the team can assess your recovery. If you need to see a specialist, such as an orthopedist for a bone fracture, the team can refer you to a professional and coordinate your care plan with them.
